Critical Consciousness

Through documentary practice and interviewing, youth are encouraged to interact not only with their families and friends, but also to go out into their communities to interview elders, community leaders, NGO’s, development institutions, and other people or institutions they are interested in.

This process of engagement encourages the development of youth’s critical consciousness about their communities, social arrangements, human rights, and media representations.

We hope to give them the confidence to question or challenge the injustices they see. We also hope they will feel empowered with a new skill set in media production and will continue to use it as a tool for social change.
