Video Letter From Cantagalo:
For eight weeks we worked to produce a Video Letter with 11 youth from Cantagalo, a hillside favela located in Rio de Janeiro. This is our blog to show our process and the work of the youth.
What Is A Video Letter?
The video letter project is an ongoing initiative of the Graduate Program in International Affairs at The New School. A video letter is similar to the concept of a postcard. It is a film produced by youth about their lives and their communities, and is later sent to youth from around the world to view and to respond with their own video letter.
A video letter is produced through a series of workshops where youth learn video production and journalism techniques. Youth decide what aspects of their lives they want to represent and what aspects of their community they want to document, investigate, or comment on.
